Title: REVELATION: MATURE LOOK by Maurice A. Williams

You may be wondering why the article “A” is missing from the title of this amazing work. I believe the author is telling readers upfront he is expressing his own view of what the bible really says about the future of the world and how our role as humans triangulates with God, heaven and/or, hell. The expression “Heaven only knows” perfectly illustrates this as an area of mystery and consternation for most Christians and those of other faiths. In an extremely well documented and footnoted tome the author walks the reader through the early history of Christianity, Paganism, Judaism and how the Roman Empire played a role in the destruction as well as the development of what we know today as modern religions.

What is surprising is that Mr. Williams believes, and documents why, about half of the things predicted in Revelation have already occurred - In ancient times. For example his depiction of the four winds and two of the three woes occurred about 40 years after John the Baptist predicted them. He believes that Revelation is more relevant to first and second-century Judea than it in any way relates to twenty-first century religions. As you know, God told Adam and Eve to populate the Earth and subdue it and their progeny should rule over all living creatures. But, Lucifer interfered and still exists. This fallen angel, a.k.a. the devil, will continue to tempt man against God. Mr. Williams provides a convincing portraiture of the devil as well as the early Roman emperors. Interestingly, he doesn’t mention Plutarch (A.D. 47-120).

Are we simply highly evolved animals set upon the earth by something (?) or should we embrace God who gave us the right of choice? After all, without choice, the only thing left is control. This is a very interesting and enjoyable read especially if you have wondered about the things discussed in the last book of the Bible. Enjoy.
