LOST SON

When first I recognized "I'm here,"
And that I'd never die:
From nothingness, did I appear.
Just like a god be I!

Subordination's not for me.
I'm me and "me" to stay.
Rejection came so suddenly.
I rue that fateful day.

When I, an exile I, a lost
Disinherited son.
When I became, at staggering cost,
An earthly, beastly one.
