Five Stars

I liked reading “My Career as a Book Reviewer Defending the Faith” by Maurice Williams.

Maurice Williams is a very intelligent man as well as an exceptional writer and an objective, fair and positive man. I previously read his book, “Questioning Evolution” showing his extensive knowledge on evolution vs. creation and he also showed his extensive knowledge of science, religion and religious theories in his reviews.

“My Career as a Book Reviewer” is a thought-provoking book and I found it intriguing and entertaining. He intelligently questions the religious ideas set forth in religious books he reviewed and creates an interest and curiosity about the ideas brought out by the authors of the books he reviewed which is difficult to accomplish in a book critiqued but he does an excellent job, in my opinion.

As an example of his writing and understanding the feelings of others, here is a short excerpt from his “My Career as a Book Reviewer”:

He reviewed a book called “A Woman in Berlin” by a writer who chose to remain anonymous and the book is about a 34-year-old German woman whose world has fallen apart and Germany is being invaded by Russian soldiers at the end of World War II. Mr. Williams begins his review with, “This is the diary of a thirty-four-year-old German woman, a successful journalist who wrote an eye-witness account of the Soviet conquest of Berlin. Her diary starts on April 20, 1945. Berlin contained about 2,000,000 people, mostly civilians, many women and children. Advancing toward Berlin is a 1,500,000-man Soviet army, all battle-hardened, well-trained, and well-equipped soldiers. Her diary is another vivid eye-witness account of civilian’s experience when their whole world collapses around them. You will find this book eye-opening and sobering.”

He reviewed numerous books in My Career as a Book Reviewer Defending the Faith involving many subjects and in particular, he wrote an extensive review of a book, “Why Evolution is True” by University of Chicago Professor, Jerry A Coyne. Mr. Williams not only gives a sizeable and complete picture of Dr. Coyne’s book but also strikes the reader’s intellectual curiosity on possible flaws in Dr. Coyne’s theories.

Mr. Williams has an excellent mind which bares itself as he discussed the contents of the books he reviewed which makes his book an enjoyable read in and of itself. This book should not be missed by anyone who enjoys reading and writing book reviews and religious theories!

We posted our review on Goodreads, and our social media and will try to post it on Amazon.
